Good Day Dear Friends!
It is hard to believe that it is already the second week of our prayerful season of Advent. I hope that all of you are swept away by the love and beauty that this season can bring to each of us, as we use this time to prepare for the celebration of Christmas.
Our family made an Advent Wreath at our parish last week. Our pastor blessed it and it now sits prominently in our home, as a constant reminder that this is a season of great hope. This year, two symbols of the wreath seem to resonate with me…the candles and the evergreen branches. The significance of the candles is to remind us that Christ is the light of the world. It also is a reminder to each of us that we have a responsibility to be a shining example of Christ's love for us. The evergreen branches arranged in a circle remind us of Christ's promise of everlasting life…we came from Him and we will go back to Him to live with Him in eternity.
During this Advent season, it is my prayer that both you and I can be a "lit candle" out in the world and to one another, by helping someone who is sick, lonely or somehow less fortunate than ourselves. And may the evergreen branches, on your wreath and all around town, remind you that the promise of everlasting life is Christ's ultimate gift to us, unwrapped and ready to be received by all.
Until my next post...
Blessings and peace to you all,
